Welcome, to ‘News You Can Use’, I’m Marketing Guy (no relation to ShawGuy) and I’ll be updating you every once and a while with information that I think you might find useful. In this blog, I’ll be posting new events and happenings from around the Shaw Festival, new additions to our website (we have some pretty neat stuff in the works for you), news relating to the Shaw Festival and of course some hidden gems we have at the theatre and in Niagara-on-the-Lake.
In the past week, we’ve been pretty busy and here’s some things that have been going on:
- Go Transit announced that they will extend weekend service to Niagara Falls, with stops in St. Catharines
- Five of our productions (Born Yesterday, Sunday in the Park with George, Brief Encounters, A Moon for the Misbegotten and In Good King Charles’s Golden Days) opened to full houses and great reviews
- An Enchanted Evening with Measha Brueggergosman concert announcement
- We’ve entered the social media stratosphere with our new and improved blog, a Facebook Fan page and Twitter, where you can be inspired by the musings of George Bernard Shaw.
These are just some of the things I’ll be writing about in the coming week, but in the meantime, ‘Welcome’ and I hope to see you around!
Marketing Guy.

26/07/09 at 21:03 | Alert an EditorHi Stacey,
Our marketing plan for the Shaw Festival in the social media environment is ever evolving. We’re hoping to utilize our Facebook fan page to reach out to our patrons and inform them of what’s happening at the Shaw Festival, through the posting of photos, videos and stimulating conversation with our patrons. But because this is our first dip into the social media pool, we’re going to be wading in slowly. So please don’t get discouraged if it seems like we’re not publishing blogs or posting to our Facebook page on a regular basis… we’re still new at this!
If you have a twitter account, you can following along with the Shaw Festival at http://www.twitter.com/shawtheatre
Have a great weekend,
Marketing Guy.
05/06/09 at 17:10 | Alert an EditorHi Bill,
Thank you for your interest in the Shaw Festival’s Facebook fan page. We’re currently in the process of updating our Facebook page and in that process, we will make it easier for our patrons to find us.
Once you login to your Facebook, in the upper right hand corner, there is a search box. In that search box, enter Shaw Festival. The page you are looking for is called ‘Shaw Festival’ and the type is Non-Profit, with about 430 fans. Select ‘Become a Fan’ and we should be added to your Facebook page.
Once our Facebook page update is finished, I’ll be sure to blog about it.
Have a great weekend,
Marketing Guy.
05/06/09 at 17:08 | Alert an EditorI’ve friended the Shaw on Facebook and encouraged all my friends to do so as well, but wonder what your plans are for using it to market the Festival?
04/06/09 at 17:14 | Alert an EditorHow do I find you on FaceBook. I am new there and don’t know how to find Fan pages.
